The presidential debates.

Between the weaselly behavior and the habeas corpus violations, Bush annoys me.

I found the vice-presidential debate on CSPAN’s website and watched it. Likely I’ll watch the next presidential debate in the same way.

George W. Bush’s behavior annoys me in these debates. It’s because his personality reminds me of someone I used to work for; nice guy in public, says all the right things, very friendly and charismatic, and so forth. Then you get him back to the office and discover he’s a weasel. Now, I have no evidence that Bush is such a person. In fact, from what I’ve read about his public and private acts, I suspect that’s what type of person he used to be, possibly when he was drinking. He’s a recovering weasel.

You can see it to some degree as you watch him in these debates; he wants to tear John Kerry a new anus, but he’s gotta restrain himself because he’s not that person anymore. Hopefully it’s Jesus working on him. Still, there’s a lot of weasel left in him. It shows up whenever he gets impatient or frustrated. Watch tonight’s debate and you’ll see what I mean.

The other thing about Bush that annoys me is the Guantanamo Bay prisoners, which is an issue that no one’s bringing up. (Possibly this is because Kerry is in favor of it as well.) I hate the idea that our country is imprisoning lots of people without trial. Especially since it would be so easy to put together simple court-martials, convict likely all of them of terrorism, and legitimately have them in prison. Still not happening. Am I the only one bugged by this?
